Sunday School Christmas Party 16th December 2018

 

Everyone enjoyed a great Christmas party after the Sunday service.

Parents and parishioners joined Sunday school children for our annual get together.

It began at midday with a game of pin the red nose on Rudolph followed by pass the parcel.

We all then enjoyed some Christmas party food and drinks followed by more games, including musical chairs and the malteser game.

Christmas Tree Festival


This was our second year of hosting a Christmas Tree Festival in church.

Building on last year’s event, all would agree that it was an outstanding success.

Approximately thirty trees were decorated and exhibited by various local shops, charities, organisations, church groups, families  etc. Each tree providing a little bit of information about themselves.

The church was also decorated with a Christmas Theme with each window having a display of festive flowers.

Stalls offering fancy gifts & Christmas goods, homemade cakes, chocolates, crafts, tombola, a bottle stall offering a prize for every ticket purchased and a large raffle offering super prizes.

With tickets from as low as 10p to others at £1 there was something for all ages.

The School Choir provided entertainment and a cafe offered waitress service of sandwiches, sausage baps, cake & mince pies, this was an event not to be missed.

Added to all that, more money than last year was raised to help us carry on Gods work in Newhey.

 

A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO ALL WHO WORKED SO HARD TO MAKE THIS A VERY SUCCESSFUL EVENT.

MILNROW BAND IN CONCERT (Sat 13 Oct)

An audience of 100 plus was entertained right royally for almost 2hrs by this fantastic local Championship Brass Band.

Under the Baton of Guest Conductor Mr Dennis Hadfield we were treated to Marches, Verdi’s Force of Destiny, Bohemian Rhapsody, Hymn Tunes, Music from The Shows, Jazz and Orchestral & Brass Band Test Pieces, wonderful solo performances and other musical items too numerous to mention.

All the itms played were received with rapturous applause, and of course a rousing curtain call The Radetski March.

Everyone connected must be congratulated on this most successful joint fund raising venture which will benefit both Church and Band

JUNE 2018

Sponsored Walk - 30th June 2018

 

On a scorching Saturday morning, an intrepid group of 15 set off from Ogden car park for the annual church sponsored walk around Ogden and Piethorne reservoirs. 

The group was split to allow those with mobility difficulties the same opportunity to complete the event.

During the longest walk, we found ourselves being followed by a flock of sheep who literally walk down the lane behind us. As it was clear we were holding them up, we stood aside to let them pass! We then became the followers (as we are with Jesus), see photo. 

At the end of the official walk we all congregated back at Sally’s house, which very happily is en route. 

Sally (church treasurer) provided some very welcome refreshments; ice cold lemonade, tea/coffee and treats of ice creams and cream scones. 

It was definitely worth the walk to sit in her lovely garden with ‘friends’ and natter about our adventures!! 

A big thank you to all who took part and/or donated and special thanks to Geoff for organising and Sally for providing the refreshments.

Please consider joining us next year. Although we can’t guarantee the weather will be so glorious, it is a great way to get to know your church family in a different setting, whilst enjoying our stunning local countryside. Plus, I highly recommend the end of walk refreshments, Sally is a wonderful host.

STRAWBERRY TEA JUNE 10th.

 

RECORD NUMBERS ATTENDED THIS YEARS STAWBERRY TEA, WITH ORGANISERS HAVING TO ORDER EXTRA SUPPLIES OF STRAWBERRYS.

THANKS MUST GO TO ALL THE FOLK WHO CONTRIBUTED IN MAKING THIS EVENT SUCH A SUCCESS.
